Half way there and we’re not chatting bingo. We’re chatting London Fashion week. Yes day 3 came around, and in a pair of well heeled boots and a sturdy brolly! Apart from seeing the consistently diverse and unique styles on offer at Somerset House, we headed into Soho to Soho House to share the celebrations between the latest fashion collaborators in the evening.
No, it wasn’t an early celebration between Isabel Marant & H&M, it was however between the crazily talented Jylle Navarro and Sink the Pink for their new knitted ‘Sink the Pink’ merchandise! From vests, dresses and crop tops to beanies and balaclavas, this queen of knitting has created pieces for any STP fan or in fact, for any fan of being warm this winter! Yipee!
With pieces being worn and modelled round the room by guests and a slightly tipsy Glyn, the response was all positive! These unique and fun pieces really piss on any knitted christmas jumper you’ll ever own!
As expected, the crowd wouldn’t just be sitting around browsing knitting patterns, it’s Sink the Pink for christ sakes! With Amy on the decks, people showed their appreciation for the knitwear through dancing and whackin!
If the knitwear, the beautiful settings of Soho House and an guest appearance from Queen Lizzy herself wasn’t enough, the crowd was given the pleasure of two different but equally pleasing performances! First up we had Cibelle trancing her audience with her voice, doing so by manipulating it and echoing it. An unusual but interesting performance!
Following Cibelle, I know it wasn’t just myself and George who were eagerly awaiting the 2nd performance from the simply stunningly talented MJ Woodbridge! As the crowd gathered round this beaut in an intimate and candle lit room, his voice just melted into everyone and by the end, the crowd were putty in his hands! Having had the pleasure of being witness to his acoustic set, I now put pressure on you all to check out his soundcloud!
We had a great evening yesterday and now kinda look forward to the winter and no longer looking for an excuse to wear knitwear once again! Bring it ON!
No blog is complete with out a shameless selfie, wether that be an impromptu shoot for an outfit post so here goes! This is our first #OOTD (Outfit Of The Day) post for Sidney&George!
First Up, Sidney! Going for a relaxed and comfy look, he’s kept it simple with a grey marl chunky knit, straight legged H&M charcoal trousers and a pair of Superga’s. Keeping his jewellery simple two, with his never-off-his-wrist bracelets, he’s complimented these along side a Jil Sander styled leather lunch bag! Lovely.
George next. Our wild child has gone to town on his print with these amazingly beautiful and brave Scotch & Soda tiger printed chinos. Not one yet to double up his print, (Give him time) he’s added a staple white tee and pair of leather Zara boots. Oh G, we salute you!
DAY 1 of London Fashion Week. Yep its that time again where fashionistas and those who love to spectate, gather round Somerset House and surrounding venues to witness whats on to offer, in the style stakes!
So, on Friday before our evening filled with fun at the Schon! Magazine party, Sidney and George went to see the Fyodor Golan show! With inspiration taken from the street, like many designers are doing these days, the collection included oversized jumpers, cropped bomber jackets all in a sweetly pastel colour pallet. Several beautiful dresses, adorned with an array of attention seeking feathers also came gliding down the catwalk to the sound of Charlie XCX. Must give a quick shout out the the white heels that where teamed up with every look too! LOVE!
So after the show we headed back to Somerset House for a quick shimmy around the courtyard where, unsurprisingly we found an array of beautifully well dressed and unique fashion kids. We just had to take their photo!
All in all, LFW for us started well, with shows, amazing style being shown and best of all, a party on offer! Perfect!
As you’ve probably seen on Instagram, Twitter and on the central line, with Fashionistas bound for Holborn, London Fashion Week has arrived! And whats the best way to kick off five days of uncomfortable footwear, dashing between shows, outfit changes and a whole lot of networking? A Party! YES!
Last night, Day 1 of LFW, we were invited along to the beautiful setting of St Ermins Hotel for Schön! Magazine's celebration of their newest issue featuring Coco Rocha on their front cover!
With guests arriving at 6:30, welcomed with a sophisticated glass of red or white, the evening was underway and everyone got chatting. The night wasn’t just filled with natter and a never empty glass of wine however, performances from several musicians happened too! First up was the Beauty that was Ariana & the Rose, all the way from New York! This lucky girl, not only has a beaut of a face, but her voice matched that, with hints of a young Regina Spektor! Great intimate set!
After Ariana, the boys from Dream Nostalgia took over and Sidney and George couldn’t help grind to the raw ethereal sounds that were on offer! With the voices just melting into the room, everyone by now was in a relaxed and blissful mood! We could get enough of them so was a shame when their set ended! Dont worry though, we’ve been glued to their Soundcloud page since!
All we can finish on is that LFW was welcomed with open arms and that Schön! Magazine kicked it off with a great start! A great evening was shared by all the beautiful and well dressed crowd who all left in high spirits! Thanks Schön! Magazine for a fun evening and well done on your newest issue! We Love it!
This nation has seen a lot, and I mean a fare few, double acts.. people who come as a Pair. Duo’s such as Domenico & Stefano, Jay & Queen B, John & Yoko, even the likes of Katie and Peter teamed up (Remember ‘Whole new world’?!). So we thought we’d give it a go! Who’s ‘we’ you’re asking?
We are Sidney and George, the newest fashion collective and bloggers! We have Sidney Blackburn as our head stylist and writer and we have George Hunt, our head photographer and all round quotable fella!
Sidney started his life in harlow hospital where for the first 8 years of his life he was in training to become a generic Essex boy. Before he could continue however he was relocated to the quiet, idilic life in a seaside town located in Norfolk, Cromer. Growing up, he had ties in both locations, this possibly influencing his style today, how he likes to mix smart, rural looks with the more urban, street style! Having been raised alongside 3 sisters, he would be destined to be working with and in fashion, which he studied up until last year in college! On moving back to the south, he’s continued to work in fashion and still dreams of landing that job ‘a million fashionistas would kill for’!
Now, we move onto our George! Being Born and raised in the East end of London, Plaistow to be precise, George actually started out as a Ballet Dancer! From the age of 9, he took classes and at the age of 14, he moved to Essex. He schooled there with part time training at The Royal Ballet School. Aged 16, he returned to London, this time alone where he studied full time at the English National Ballet School. After an operation however, he took time out to recover which lead him to pick up a camera! And thank god he did, otherwise there might have been no sidneyandgeorge.com site today! Leaving his 9 year stint of ballet, he has worked ever since on his photography taking up event work, and assisting fashion photographers, in the hope of one day being a skilled and technically amazing photographer!
So, this is where we started! Meeting a year back, we both had these dreams and ideas of what we wanted to be doing! So after several ciders in the local (you know us by now!) we conjured up sidneyandgeorge.com and have hit the floor running! From fashion shows, to new faces and creatives, to even a dodgy night out, we want to be reporting on everything we get up too, and hopefuly the stuff you want to read about too! As well as that, we’ll be pushing through plenty of editorials for everyone to gaze over! For now, keep reading, keep tweeting, keep instagramming and daren’t ask what else to us!

I don’t think anything needs to be written about this, not only beautiful, but also crazy talented wonder that is Johanna Vollrath! Her beautiful, all one off pieces, say enough for them themselves without needing my two pennies worth!
But for the sake of being a good fashion writer, and the fact I want to scream and shout Johanna’s name and brand, byJoon, off every rooftop, i’ll fill in the gap here.
Johanna Vollrath, born in Germany and having studied Fashion, moved over to London a few years back where she has been forever since, completing a course on Haute Couture embroidery at CSM. Along the way she’s also completed many internships at fashion houses and helped back stage on many shows! Yep, this girls been a busy bee!
So this Sunday gone, we invited SidneyandGeorge round to Johanna’s for a catch up and a good old gawp at her amazing designs! Where we amazed! YES! Each piece has a story behind it, whether that it’s been made for a certain event, or she simply fell in love with the fabric or was just playing around with old clothes! And also whats great is, she wears every piece, and remembers when and where! For example, a particular dress, worn to a wedding, which turned out to be rather translucent! LOVE!
Having spent the afternoon with Johanna, we got to see her creative inspiration, at home, laid bare! And then the final pieces too, which we have already put down some orders for! Johanna really loves fashion and fabrics, you can simply see this through her excitement and willingness to talk through each creative process!
Being SidneyandGeorge, it didn’t take us long to get Johanna dressed up and styled in her creations for a little photo shoot in and around her house! This really was meet the designer at home, wasn’t it?! We had such a good afternoon at her house, and are so excited for Johanna’s future, we’re sticking close to this beauty and natural, fresh talent! We LOVE byJoon!!!!
With a day off, the sun shining and with our heads in ‘day-off’ mode, we took SidneyandGeorge to the streets of London for a poptastic day visiting anything and everything POP UP!
Coffee for George & hot chocolate for Sidney in hand, and after our first port of call at the pop up urban garden at the Southbank Centre, we hoped on the tube to Camden! Why you ask?! Well a little birdy, no wait scrap that, …a lot of people had not only been tweeting, instagramming and god-knows-what-else about our second pop up shop, we thought we’d pop in and say hello! And it was no other than the menswear magazine Pause!
After meeting the team behind Pause at LC:M and seeing so much hype on their pop up store, it was great to get over there and see the brands they’ve worked with up close! With some familiar brands, being SidneyandGeorge favourites, such as Velsoir and Mr GuGu, it was fun to find new brands such as Hubert & Calvin! Great to hear how much support Pause and the team had behind them too!
Right, on to the next one! We needed more POP! For this we headed East to Shoreditch high street for the pop up mall, Boxpark! The collection of shops their ranges from Nike to Farah, then to more independent shops such as Playn Eyewear and a new love, Let’s Be Brief! Their belief and love for young emerging talent brought the work of artists and designers all together in this inspiring space! LOVE LOVE LOVE! Check these guys out!
With the day running into the evening and plans for a cider or too in London fields bubbling, we just had time to nip into an exhibition of Sound and Collaboration at Rivington Place. There we found ourselves in an empty room, dancing along to a record player, which was blasting Shirley Bassey’s ‘Big Spender’! Surreal, Yes!
So, if you ever have a spare day, make sure you spend it wisely and visit as many pop up shops as possible, because as you’ll find, they won’t be there for long and even better, you too might find your self waltzing around a gallery to some Shirley! Life Made!
